Rail welding

In order to ensure maximum train speed and integrity of track circuits, the welding of railway tracks carried out in good time is of great importance. LEONHARD WEISS has the qualified workforce and advanced special equipment it needs to perform the following welding types: thermite welding, resistance welding and hardfacing and using the weld pool method.

Resistance welding of rails

LEONHARD WEISS conducts rail welding by using K-355 mobile resistance welding machines. Mobile resistance welding machines let us provide welding services to the clients in any place, which can be accessed via road or railway. Work is performed based on the requirements set out in the standard EVS-EN 14587-2:2009, unless specified otherwise in the contract. We have the right to provide resistance welding services in Estonia, Finland, Norway, Poland and Lithuania.

Thermite welding of rails

LEONHARD WEISS welds rails together using the ELEKTRO-THERMIT method and materials. ELEKTRO-THERMIT is a leading producer of thermite welding materials in Europe. Our welders are highly qualified and trained. All of our welders have ELEKTRO-THERMIT certificates validating their skills in using the methods approved by the producer. Welding work is carried out by our mobile teams using vehicles that are equipped with everything necessary for high-quality performance. We have the right to perform thermite welding in Estonia, Finland, Norway, Poland and Lithuania.

Neutralising thermal stress in railway rails

In order to ensure great train speeds, integrity of rail tracks and railway safety, it is important to fasten continuous rails at rail-neutral temperatures and to weld rails in a timely and proper manner. LEONHARD WEISS has the qualified workers and special equipment it needs for improving geometry, releasing/fastening, heating and stressing rails as well as carrying out resistance and thermite welding.

Hardfacing grooved rails and rail ends

LEONHARD WEISS renews rails and grooved rails by hardfacing them. This enables the client to extend the exploitation time of expensive metal details, thus significantly reducing the costs of railway maintenance. The vehicles our mobile teams use are equipped with everything necessary for high-quality performance. We have the right to carry out work in Estonia, Finland, Norway, Poland and Lithuania.

Rail welding using the weld pool method

LEONHARD WEISS uses electrode welding to join rails on railway, tramway and craneway tracks, whereby the rails are preheated and welded in special moulds. Using the weld pool method enables us to weld together even pre-curved rails and rails on sharper switches. We have the right to carry out work in Estonia, Finland, Norway, Poland and Lithuania.
